Keeping Up With Trends
Oct 06, 2022
Like any business, the beauty business is ever-changing. New York Fashion Week will look at the fashion trends to rise in the coming year. Pinterest will show you the aesthetics you didn’t realize you loved yet, but you inevitably will. Netflix will tell you what is popular - and the next thing you know, you and your friends are all obsessed with watching a show about a tiger breeder.
As a lash artist, you have options. You can stick to the classics, like Dior, Monet, or Breakfast at Tiffany's - there is nothing wrong with being great with classic designs if you have the right clientele. As an artist, however, you should know what is trending. Through research and following some of the industry's big dogs, you can see where trends are going. Even Gucci looked to Prada for help.
Continuous education, regardless of your field of expertise, is an absolute must for growth. Enroll in courses and webinars, and attend events with other lash artists. Block out time each week to read industry blogs and watch YouTube vlogs. Staying on top of what is trending in the lash industry will show your clientele that you are a knowledgeable source of information.
Collaborative intelligence is the idea people work better together than alone. Get involved with groups and engage with other artists in the lash industry. By growing your social circle, you will be more aware of hot topics, industry changes, and potential business conflicts. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak are great examples of how an industry can change with collaborative efforts. By utilizing collective intelligence, you as a lash artist will open up to new ideas and techniques and be more aware of rising trends.
